Entry 1: Common Experiences

       Yes, I do agree with the statement that there are only two or three human stories and they go on repeating themselves as if they never happened before. I think there are more than 2 or 3 human stories but i do agree if the big idea. Before this class I never even thought about things like this but now i find it very truthful. What happened to me usually happen to other people too. However when i actually experience it, it is like this thing never happened before. 

       When i actually think about it, everyone have this little space in their heart that is privet and no one else would touch. I have this personal and special place too, i felt like it was so unique that it is there just for me. The untouchable place for me is so privet that no human actually reach it. Yet, i have 4 best of best friends that i told my everything to. The only "person" who knows and keeps that special place for me is Necky. I know deep in my heart that she will never ever slip my secrets away nor will so complain about having to hear my rant. She is my journal. 

       I also think that the common experience link all humans together. Why else do those love stories and breaking up songs so popular and never dies? Because all of us have the common experience or stories, so we feel connect to the situation. This is also the reason body language works. When ever you see a warm, welcoming smile, the warmth slip into your heart before any words are spoken. When a person cries, the people around them can feel the sadness because they understands. Maybe they have never lost a brother before in their life but they know what it is like to leave someone forever.

the two movies of Cyrano de Bergerac have a lot of of differences and similarity, which i will tell you as follow
differences:
- the language in the two movies is indeed different ( one french, one english)
- the time movie was base on is different ( one is more in the 1800s, one is in the modern days)
- the way movie was started was different ( one starts when Cyrano is walking, one starts in a cinema)
- Cyrano's job was different ( Cyrano was a police in the modern movie and call himself a poet in the 1800 movie)
- the relationship was different between characters ( Roxanne was the cousin of Cyrano in one movie while in other Cyrano and Roxanne are strangers)


similarity:
- Cyrano in both movies have really good body fitness. in the modern movie he can calm up the roof and int the 1800 movie he is a fighter(using swords)
- Cyrano in both movies have abnormal big nose
- Cyrano is the kind of person that is very sensitive about his nose and gets mad when other people makes fun of it. However he is able to use different way to describe his nose when ever others is making fun of it.
- Cyrano is a talented speaker, ( this character is more obvious in the 1800s movie) who is able to make up a come back really quickly
- Cyrano is obviously intelligent

all about the legend

     My favorite legend is of course the Knights of the Round Table. It is very easy to understand and it is the kind of story that will just stays in people's mind after they heard about it once. It is very famous, fill with adventure, love, war, and other attractive elements. King Arthur's life is very magical from the day he was born to the battle cost his life, in some places he is deeply wounded but still not dead. Knights of the Round Table have many sections of stories in it, most people did not read through the whole thing but just a few famous ones such as the quest for the grail, when Arthur is fighting for the queen and when the "Perfect Knights" comes out. I love these story very much and i believe everyone who had a childhood knows about the story very well.

A hero, should be brave and did something important to the society.  

For example superman is a hero because he is always saving people with his super powers. Edison is a hero for creating light bulbs and makes the whole world shine even at night! 

One thing to keep in mind is that the hero is only consider as a hero when he had done something important to HIS society. For example, a great hunter might be a hero in his tribe when he always brings the most food back and kills all the monsters. How ever he is no hero when he comes into the city who dont care about killing and hunting animals.

      The few things that the animal farm movie is different form the book is that the movie didn't describe some of the characters as well as the book does. The book describe the characters deeper than than the movie. The movie can show a lot of different scenes at once but the book cant really do that. The book has to go scene by scene. One more important difference between the book and the movie is that the movie gives you the actual image of what it would be like and help the viewers understand it better. With the musics it create the mood for the viewers as if they are in the situation. One the other hand, although the book does not give the actual image, the readers have room for imagination. Everyone might picture Mr.Jones differently if they are reading the book and people can only think of what Mr. Jones is like in the movie if they watch the movie.

       Yes, I think situations that people being misled happen all the time. One of the best example would be when there are new students coming in to a class or school. In those times people are easily misled by the appearance of the new student and make quick judgments about them. As the old students get to know the new student better they will know that their judgments are right or not, usually they are not correct. I sometimes get misled by this kind of situation too but i always remind myself to NOT do it. 

what is bullying?

Bullying, it is when stronger (usually) person purposely harm the weaker person.
   When i say strong, it does not only mean that physically strong but also strong as in the way she/him think of her/himself and the popularly. Weak might just means that he or she have no friends in school or just physically week.
    Also bullying does not only include, of course, hurting the others by making them have wounds and stuff. A lot of times the words that you say to others might harm them so much more than you physically hurting them. Like laugh at someone when they are sad or pick on them all the time and make them feel like they have no friends ect. There are lots of ways for bullying and these are the two major ones people usually use.

Have i ever been bullied?

   Yes, i have been bullied before and that is defiantly something i do not want to remember at all. When i was in elementary school i was not the one you would want to hang out with. I was like a little boy in the elementary school, well, i guess i am not too girly even now. I would fight withe the guys if they piss me off, and i would rather die if you tell me to wear dress to school. This is probably the reason i get isolated in the class, i dont really have any good friend or friends in school. I dont think the boys i sometimes fight with are my friends for the reason i fight with them is that they laugh at me. All the time, i wonder if they get tire of it, but sadly they never did. When we are doing group work, i am always the last one to be pick. When they play cards, i only get to watch.
    this is a really bad memory and i am glad i am out of it.

the things that bland to me but happen to someone else are:
- the Japan earthquake that happened a little more than a week ago.
        i fellow all the news that up date everyday, and maybe this event is the biggest ever happen around me. It made me think a lot, about the way we get energy, about how people react to such disaster like that.

-  when president ma get elected to Taiwan's president.
     i am not really on any side of the party but i just really dislike how president Chen steal all our money and lie to us all the time. Also not only did he steal all the money, he wast tons too. We sure need a better president than him.

-   the reform of egypt, this is probably the event that started all the revolution around Africa.
        This is probably not the most significant revolution happen around the area but it is the one i really get up and fellow and understand all about it as much as i can. It is one of those time when i can actually see how a country, basically form, started, whatever you want to call it.

     People who chose to take the risk when they get the chose to playing it save:

- there was this woman, she chose to be couch girl, this means she is traveling around the world all by herself and sleeping at other people's couch. She is around her  20s to 30s and i think this is really a big risk for her. She spent 11 months to travel, sleep at 81 people's couch, and spent only 220,000 NT. She don't know the people she is staying at before she went so i think this is a really risky thing, sleeping at stranger's house all around the world. They could do things to her and no one will know until afterwords.

- The black woman refuse to give her sit up to a white man.

- Jane who went to live with the chimpanzee to study them.

-  that family chose to went to live with the group of people in Africa that is still living a wild life, hunting, killing each other, no technology. This is risky for them because the tribes are constantly killing each other.

If i really have chose between a city slicker or a country bumpkin i think i am more on the country bumpkin side.

analyze poem

i rewrite this because my original one is lost, because of the internet.

when i analyze the poem, first i look for the rhythm in the poem. Second i find the rhyme in the poem, than i put down the image in my head that the poem give us, and the feeling the poem is trying to express. Finally, i look for the literary terms in the poem.

i first identify the rhythm of the poem because it helps me understand the poem better, lots of times the poem sounds different when you identify the rhythm. And sometimes the meanings are different. Then i find the rhyme because it is one of the easiest thing to identify, also because it would help me understand the poem. By this time i would have read the poem a few times and i would put the images down on paper as soon as possible. Finally i would tell the literary terms in the poem, i put it last because that thing needs to take some brain power.

Death

Because I could not stop for Death-He kindly stopped for me—

The death is coming for us, this is no doubt and this poem is telling us about how we all walk our way toward death how our life is like a day that shine brightly and ends.

This poem give me a image of the god of death lead a the writer pass a empty school, which remind writer about his childhood. How writer turn back on the way and saw the setting sun, it tell me that she compare the life to the twilight it is coming to the end but still beautiful in its very own way. The tip of the house seems like the home she is already very far from. She can barley sees it, barely sees the tip and most successful part of her life.

Also the empty school, setting sun, barley seeing house all give me a image that everything is coming to an end, she is lonely, on this field looking back to some thing else she did not belong.

She did not refuse to go with the gentleman, or as I’ve seen the god of death, nor did she try to hide. I think she want to tell us that death, is not scary it is just an other way of forever. 

The Courage that my mother had quickwirte

      Something i would want to inherit from my family would be the voice my parents have. Both my parents are pretty good singers, it is not like they are going to be the next rock star or anything it is just they both sing well and some how their voice will stand out form the others when they sing.
     As for me, i am not a good singer, my voice is very different from my mother and father and i sometimes wonder why. My voice are not sounding well when i sing along. I have this cool ability that when i sing with the others you basically don't hear my voice but i made who ever is singing with me's voice louder. But that only happens if the person sing with me takes the lead, in other words sings well enough and is sure of the thing it is singing. Or else i either takes the lead myself or i just eventually stops singing.
    So i want to have my mother and father's voice because i want to sing along too. I want to stand out of the crowd in some way. My voice made me scard of sing before other people but i some times wish i could.

     My hearts are beating, so fast that i can't imagine. I know the crow is cheering for me but i can't heart it, the only thing i heart is my heart beat, my voice and the voice of my teammates and couch. I am breathing very fast, faster than i should but i didn't try to slow it down, it is going to get fast soon anyways. The light is bright, make it clear to see my goal. There it is, the empty basket waiting for me to put a ball in. My throat are dry and the sticky sweat makes me feel uncomfortable but i didn't ask for water or tower. Here i go, on court, with an other person uselessly trying to stay in fort of me. Looking right to the ball, measuring the things i can do after i get it. The whistle scream, i caught the eye sight of Bob, the ball holder, and my body set into function. Push away the blocker, run to the ball, and ready to fight. I don't have to beware of the lines because they in my body already, there is like a sensor that tells me where is the line and don't let me cross it. Finally i get the ball, turn to face the enemies and i know i have to win.

           Things in the nature that is fleeting could be the water, every tiny lives that disappear in every second, the bird and files for its speed, and much more. Things that are permanent could be seas and oceans, ground, trees, air, and so on. In my life i think the things that are permanent could be only me and my goodies, personality if you are thinking in a deeper way but in the normal times the thing that is always with me would be my skills, friends, parents, nature and so much more that are to do with humans instead of objects. The things that fleeting away in my life could be the things i eat, the things i use, memories that i happen to forget, and every object that i have now around me could be taken away in any second. Nature is one of the strongest backups anyone could ever own, they are always there, always so kind to take our left outs in their body. Although they almost never get mad, these things don't happen when they get mad and when they did you want to try your best to be out of it.

     Wirte what i might hear, see, taste, smell, or touch on special day of day year. 

The special day of the year for me is the day the whole year ends and the new year start. Not the Chinese New Year, that is for family, and yes it is special too but not the one i am talking about. The one i am talking about is like the end of 2010 and the start of 2011. That time is for friends and "you young people" as my mom said, to celebrate and be crazy. The day would be cold because it is the 31of December, there are always fire works some where up in the sky. Sometimes it get so cold i cant smell anything but lots of times i smell food from the little shops all around and firms from the fire works keep pupping up to the dark sky. Likewise my hands sometimes get too cold this time of the year that i can barley feel anything, when i do feel things it would usually be the hand warmer in my packet or little warm hands from my friends. Different songs would always be around my ear for there would always be singers singing up on the stage. If my ears didnt fill with the songs it would be fill with the truth form the heart of one of my friends. I would always remember that the sudden great joy the burst out when the new year starts even if i didnt leave the surface of the Earth.

   I the farm my grandpa have it is green and beautiful. The farm is growing rice, the one need a lot of water and through out our childhood, my, my dad's, even my grandpa's, it is always there. As green and fresh as before. The land is very big it is bigger than the whole PAS, i don't usually walk form one end to an other for its length is too wide for me, even now for i am growing up it is still a long distance. The plant of the rice will grow from as tiny as my finger, so tiny when the water went through i am afraid they will not survive, to as high as my waist. Than the tiny rice on the tip of the plant bend its waist to make sure the plant don't grow any taller than my waist. When they are just babies they light green but they are so tiny when you look out you see a lot of brown ground. In summer when they are nice and tall, they are dark green and it is the only thing you see when you look out to the land, a big pice  of land full of green grass that is as tall as a adult's thigh. Than when fall comes and the land turn to a golden dream and my grandpa will be happy to see the result of hard working all year.

        The song "i am a rock" is telling about a person don't want to feel pain and cried so he lock himself from other people. That make me think of a very lonely person, as if he or she is on a island. It make me think of the very sad person, the kind that would be sitting in the back of class room all the time, never talk in class, never attend anything if it is not require. He or she might be the one always get forget and they don't mind.

     The Beyonece's "If i were a boy" the song always made me think of a lonely girl looking out of the window. The image is gray (black and white only).  The girl would be different age from 17 - 25, long hair (cant see the hair color), her eyes are fill with tears but she is not crying. The window is somewhat fancy so it is not like she is lock in the room or anything. The girl is sitting on a chair that would be commonly seen in middle class families.

        The silver cup in Johnny Tremain is a symbol. That cup is very special to Johnny because her mother left it for him, father yet the cup can bring him wealth when the god had turn away from him. The cup represent the relationship he had with the most powerful family in whole area, meaning his blood from straight from theirs. The cup also remind him the times when his mother was still with him and other things about his mother. That cup is also the reason he want to be a silversmith and why he try so hard working on being perfect on his works. The cup is a very special thing to Johnny and it is why it is a symbol.

      Being proud means you are happy, think you did a good job because of something to me.

      There are lots of situations could make someone proud. When someone earn a award of some kind, when someone finish a difficult task (especially when they did it well), when parents saw their kids become a good person and so on.   

       I think there are nothing wrong of being proud, the only thing is we have to be careful of not being too proud. Being proud is a good thing, and everyone should have experience that before or else there must be something wrong with that person. Being too proud makes you a unwelcome person and no one would really like you for it.

Amy Chua has been called the “tiger mother” since her book about parenting is publish. I can barely stand as her point of view to look at things that way, she is doing what she believe is the best for the children of course but is that really the best way? I am really glad Amy still let her daughter have some freedom like having a boyfriend, iPod and things like that. Although this article is suppose to tell how Amy Chua is good or not as bad, it did not change my point of view.

Jean's article is very interesting and i like the way she writes about how she is raise. I like how Jean said she is going to let her children "make decisions and mistakes for themselves." This is what i think parents should be. Although it is good that we go on a path that WILL lead to succeed, it is better if we go on our own path and discover what ever we need to discover. I mean, people learn from failures and sometimes it is the best way of learning. I will not treat my kids, if i ever have one, like Amy Chua does, it might work for some children but it is just not the way for me.

  If I ever have to, would I chose the thing that was good for me or good for the one I care about?

   I think I would chose the thing that was good for the one I care about. Now, of cause I don’t want to get to a point that I have to make chooses like that. When this kind of question comes on paper, everyone say they are going to make the chose that is good for the one he/she care about. The real question is, would you make that same decision when the situation is in real life? Of course it also depend on how heavy the bet is. I hope I make the decision I made here when I really face the problem.

   One time I kind of face the problem but it is a small chose. I decide to hand the one I like to one of my best friend. It is not like he is already my or anything it is just I was better friend with that guy and I help my friend to get better with him when I know she likes him. Do I feel regret for it? Of course not, what is the point of feeling regret for the chose you make? Plus I don’t like him anymore so I really don’t mind now.  

why is it the "Road not taken"?

   I think the poem is called the Road not taken because the poem is talking about how the author wants to take both roads and how he felt bad that he didn’t see what the other road is like. As a traveler the author think is it his job to go over the roads, too bad he can only take one.

     The article “Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior” is talking about how the Chinese mother and Western mother’s parenting is different. Which is, really different, in a lot of ways. The article show the typical Chinese mother and how they thought about their child.  

     I personally don’t agree with what the mother said. Of course the child’s self – confidence will not break and will work hard if the parent insult them once or twice but with non-engorgement for pretty good result and insult for working hard but cant get the gold all through their life, the child is going to get depress. They would think the parent don’t understand, love them.

       People always have to make choses in their lives some are easy and some others are hard. I have face the chose of what am i going to do for the rest of my life these days. The pressure will be stronger as i go through high school and it is bothering me already. The reason it is bothering me is that i have no idea of what i am going to do as a job or major in my life. I know i am very interest in biology but i defiantly don't want to be a doctor. That is decided when i was very young, i do not want to be a doctor. I can try something else that has to do with biology or novels, for i love reading novels so much, but i don't that those might support me. So this is my choses, i don't know what to do and i don't know what to pick.
       I would love to stay with my friends while taking the classes, like even though i am in basketball team already and i really don't need to take any more PE class i still take PE class next semester just to stay with my friends. My parents effect the chose i am going to make too. Although they said everything is in my hand, they are the reason i do not want to be doctor. Also as they talk about it with me i know they want me to have a job, with pretty good of paid. The teachers that teaches the class also effect the chose too. If the teachers make the class really boring than i might not find myself too interest about it but if the teacher make it fun then i would really want to learn about it

    If you could save just one item from the disaster what would it be?

   If i could save just one item from the disaster it would be the gold neckless that my grandma gave me few years ago. It is something i really treasure because of the way my grandma give me it, and it is the stuff from the one i love. It is a gift and yes i treasure it a lot more because it is a gift."Jingmin," she said with her special voice that i would never forget, "this is my neckless I don't wear them any more, you keep it well. One day when i die you can took a look at the neckless and remember your grandma sometimes." I swear i cry that time, well luckily my grandma is still with me now. I will, as always protect the neckless as i am told to.

I really like to be someone that translate novels because I love to read novels and this give me a reason to read all the time. Also this is a job i don't have to stay at a particular place so i can travel while i am working. I also love traveling as well.
